Who we are
Alan Greenin trading as Ask Alan Mortgages (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an Appointed Representative of HLP, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use this website or contact us.
What data we collect
When you submit an enquiry form, we collect: your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and the information you include in your message. We do not automatically collect tracking data beyond standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited). We do not use third-party analytics scripts.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry and provide the financial advice service you've requested. Where you become a client, to fulfil our regulatory obligations under the FCA.
Legal basis
For initial enquiries: legitimate interests (responding to a request you have made). For ongoing advice: contract performance and legal obligation.
How long we keep it
Enquiry data: deleted after 12 months if no client relationship commences. Client records: retained for a minimum of 6 years following the end of the advice relationship, as required by FCA regulations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We may share it with: lenders and providers where this is necessary to submit your application; HLP (our network) for compliance oversight; our technology providers under data processing agreements. This website is hosted by Cloudflare, and enquiries sent through our contact form are delivered to us by Resend — both act only as processors on our instructions, and neither uses your details for their own purposes.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access your data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion (where no legal obligation requires retention), object to processing, and portability. To exercise these rights, email us at alan@askalanmortgages.co.uk.
